Our Privacy Policy and Commitment to Protecting Your Privacy

We, at Integrated Financial Strategies, value your business and thank you for your confidence in choosing our firm.  As our client, you trust us with your personal information.  We respect that trust and want you to be aware of our commitment to protecting your personal information while doing business with us.

The advisor, Integrated Financial Strategies Inc., and Integrated Financial Strategies (hereinafter referred to as the “Firm”) comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), a federal privacy law and any provincial privacy laws and regulations that apply.  The Firm also adheres to the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and regulations and will only communicate electronically with your consent.

The Firm is accountable for the personal information it receives from its clients and maintains the highest standards of confidentiality to ensure the protection of its client’s personal information.

The Firm protects the personal information it receives from its clients with security safeguards that are appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, in order to protect it from unauthorized access, release or use.  Any personally identifiable information about you, the client, is considered personal information and will be treated with this policy.

Upon your written request, the Firm will provide you with reasonable access to your personal information and a description of its use or disclosure, as required or permitted by law.  You may also verify the accuracy and completeness of your information, and request that it be amended, if appropriate.

How we Collect, Use and Disclose Your Information

The Firm collects all personal, medical, corporate, financial, and related information with your consent and uses and retains it solely for the purposes of recommending financial strategies, products & services that best meet your needs as well as for providing ongoing advice.  The information the Firm collects from you is submitted to insurance companies either directly, or through wholesale organizations, including Managing General Agencies.

The Firm may use and disclose this information in order to offer, update, provide investment and insurance products and services to you; to correspond, and enable the Firm and its associated companies to correspond with you on certain products & services which are available; to administer, service, update, and maintain your investment and insurance portfolio information in the Firm’s computer database and in your client file; to verify your identity, detect and prevent fraud; to establish and maintain communication with you in a timely and efficient manner; and to act as required or authorized by law.

The Firm relies upon you, its client, to provide accurate and up to date information in order for the Firm to make appropriate recommendations to you.

The Firm does not sell or share client information with anyone, nor does it share client information with organizations outside of its relationship with you.

Your Rights as they Pertain to Your Personal Information

  • You have the right to know why an organization collects, uses, or discloses your personal information.
  • You have the right to expect an organization to manage your information reasonably and not use it for any other purpose other than the one to which you consented.
  • You have the right to know who in an organization is responsible for protecting your information.
  • You have the right to expect an organization to protect your information from unauthorized disclosure.
  • You have the right to inspect the information an organization holds about you and make sure it is accurate, complete, and current.
  • You have the right to expect an organization to destroy your information when requested or when no longer required for the intended purpose.
  • You have the right to confidentially complain to an organization about how it handles your information and to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if need be.

We Strive to Protect Your Personal Information

All employees, advisors, wholesale organizations and suppliers that are granted access to client records are required by law and regulation to keep this information protected and confidential and to use the information only for the purposes identified.  Information that is no longer required for the intended original purpose will be destroyed.  The Firm has also established physical and systems safeguards, along with proper processes, to protect client information from unauthorized access or use.

Your Privacy Choices

You may withdraw your consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual obligations and on providing us reasonable notice) by contacting the Firm’s Privacy Officer.  Please be aware that withdrawing your consent may prevent the Firm from providing you with requested products or services.  The Firm may occasionally use your personal information to advise you of products or services it believes may be of interest to you or fit your personal circumstances.  If you would rather not receive this type of communication, please advise the Firm’s Privacy Officer.
